  1. i injured my big toe nail about 12 years ago, since then i have been having nail that is abnormal, such as couple of layers growing together, brittle, tends to crack and eventually i have to remove it. during my pregnancies, i had gestational diabetes, i was told my chances of having diabetes later in life is very high. i can foresee that this particular toe nail is going to give me problem, since my dad had his leg amputated due to diabetes. i am looking for a long term solution.

    tks a lot, doc!

    • Hello Florence, I’m sorry to hear about this. You are most likely having an ingrown toenail. An ingrown toe nail is a painful condition of the toe. It occurs when a sharp corner of your toenail digs into the skin at the end or side of the toe. Do you usually wear high heels that are hard to fit in with your legs or trim your toenails improperly? Ingrown toenails can be caused by cutting toenails improperly or by wearing shoes that fit poorly or by injuring the nail bed. Sorry to hear about your dad. Does he have an ingrown toe nail too? Because since he has diabetes and if he had this condition too, that could have caused poor circulation to his feet so he was at greater risk of complications from an ingrown toenail, so he might have to get his legs amputated. I’ll advise you to give me a call immediately at +65 97560845 or you can leave behind your contact number and I can help you work out a solution. Thanks.

  2. I had underwent a surgery before for both my toenails.Unfortunately, the nail grolew back.It hurts so much. Why does the nail grow back ?How could you stop it from growing back? How much does the surgery cause?
